Cleaning your oven is probably a task that most of us don’t want to do – and for good reason. It can be a tiring and frankly unpleasant task, especially if you’ve let the dirt and grime build up for a few months. However, regular maintenance is key, and not just for making sure that your oven continues to look good. It plays a vital role in ensuring that it continues to function as it should too. Let’s talk a little bit about oven maintenance and what it means for you.

How Much Cooking Do You Do?

When it comes to how much you should clean an oven, it is all about two key factors – how much you use it and what type of food you’re cooking. If you’re someone who uses their oven regularly for different types of meals, then grime and dirt can build up pretty frequently. However, if you only use it casually, then you may not need to clean it as much.

Longer, bigger meals can leave your oven looking disgusting, especially if you’re cooking a lot of fatty food or anything with a lot of oil. It is important to keep this sort of thing in mind because it does play a role in how often you’ll be cleaning.

Best Cleaning Practices?

To try and work out the best cleaning practices, you’ll need to think about how often you use the oven like we said. It will influence how much cleaning you’ll be doing.

The typical oven that sees moderate usage most of the week will need to be cleaned at least once a year, maybe more. You need to get rid of the grime, dirt and bits of old food if you want to keep it working properly.

However, for best results you’ll probably have to clean more regularly than just once a year. Every few months, roughly 5-6, you’ll want to check your oven and use your best guess on cleaning.
